Children's Health

For the well being of the other children we should be grateful if you would inform us if your child is unwell. In the event of sickness and diarrhoea , our policy states that children should be clear of all symptoms for 48 hours before returning.

In the event your child contracts a serious or infectious illness we ask you to contact us as soon as possible so that we can take the appropriate action to ensure the wellbeing of  the children and staff in the setting.

Healthy Under 5's

We are committed to ensuring that your child has access to healthy food during their time with the Pre-School.  As part of this commitment, we have joined the Healthy Under 5's programme, a Cornwall Council initiated project, to encourage children, families and staff within settings to live a healthy lifestyle. Our current Food & Drink policy can be found on the policies pages.  A copy of our menu is also displayed on our notice board and is available for you to view below.  If your child has any specific food allergies, or you require more information, please do not hesitate to speak to us.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have not been providing healthy cooked meals but instead the children have been enjoying packed lunches provided by their parents.  This has proved very successful as the staff join the children for lunch.  We would however urge you to make simple food swaps to reduce your child's sugar intake.  For example, some popular cake bars and snacks are shown to have more than a child's maximum daily intake, (the equivalent of 5 sugar lumps), in just one serving! Public Health England's Change4Life campaign has some useful suggestions for healthy alternative swaps.  Please visit their website, the link is provided below, for more details.

We shall be grateful if you will kindly quarter foods such as cherry tomates and grapes to prevent the dangers of choking.  Sausages should be cut lengthways in quarters for the same reason.  More information is available on the below websites whch are well worth visiting.

Also, being more active and getting our hearts pumping can make us feel great!  It helps us to be healthier and ultimately, live longer.  We know that life can be busy and we often don't make time for healthier meals.  But the truth is, preparing and enjoying healthier meals can be easier than you may think.  Plus, they don't have to cost a lot of money!

To show just how easy it can be, change4life have created lots of quick, yet healthy, recipes and activities for you to undertake with your children.  For more information, please click the link below:
